In Scrum, teams work in short iterations called sprints, which typically last 1-4 weeks. Each sprint begins with a planning session where the team identifies the work to be done and creates a sprint backlog. Worshop & Serious Game
The Serious Game aims to teach the principles and practices of Scrum, an agile project management methodology widely used in software development. Participants learn how to work as a team, manage priorities, plan iterations, and continuously improve their development process.
How the game works: Ilaria Digital School starts by providing a brief introduction to Scrum, explaining the roles, artifacts, and key events associated with the methodology.
Formation of teams: Participants are divided into teams of appropriate size. Each team represents a Scrum development team with assigned roles such as Scrum Master and Product Owner.
Iteration simulations: Teams are faced with project iterations. Each iteration represents a defined period of time (typically 1 to 4 weeks) where teams need to deliver a set of features.
Iteration planning: Teams should plan tasks and estimate the time needed for each feature to be completed during iteration. They should also identify potential obstacles and strategies to overcome them.
Daily meetings: Every day, teams hold daily coordination meetings to discuss their progress, obstacles encountered, and actions to take.
Iteration review: At the end of each iteration, teams present the features developed and gather feedback from other teams and the stakeholder.
Iteration Retrospective: Teams meet to reflect on their performance during the iteration and discuss possible improvements for subsequent iterations.
Subsequent iterations: The game continues with several successive iterations, allowing teams to apply lessons learned and advance their Scrum project management skills (Needs Discovery Iteration, Development Iteration, Test and Integration Iteration, Validation Iteration, Continuous Improvement Iteration).
